Dab Pipes

Dab pipes are one of many ways to inhale essential oils, extracts, and concentrate smoke, and are currently one of the newest trends in the smoking industry. Dabbing pipes are a specially designed pipe with a heated surface so that the piece of extract is melted, and then inhaled, and it offers a much softer smoking experience than most other smoking methods as they are much better controlled and much more predictable, as the extract is size cut.

What Is Dabbing, And How Does It Work?

Dabbing is done with a specially designed rig and pipe design with a hot nail or skillet. This skillet is heated to a high heat with a blowtorch or lighter, and then the extract is pushed against the surface, causing it to burn and emit a smoke that is then inhaled.

The vapour is much cleaner, as the high heat of the burn stops the product from combusting, making a much richer vapour for inhalation.

The History Of Dabbing

A lot of herb extracts and oils have been around, and being smoked, since the 60’s, but dabbing didn’t really make a huge appearance until 2010. This is partially due to the legalisation of some drugs across the US, but also because people had started to become much more conscious of what they were taking into their body after the various smoking bans.

In 2012 the market really boomed, and there was a flood of dabbing pipes and dabbing accessories that have become immensely popular with smokers across the world.

What Makes A Dabbing Pipe

Most dab rigs have only three main elements, a glass body, a nail and a lighter, with the lighter being a separate investment. The nail is usually made from a strong ceramic or titanium, and is heated to a high temperature in order to burn the herb as successfully as possible for a clean and pure vapour.

The Pros Of A Dab Pipe

Dabbing is generally a lot safer than simply smoking your extracts, as the vapour is a lot cleaner and free of harmful chemicals, and a shop bought pipe is specially deigned for safe and efficient use.

Dabbing pipes are incredibly convenient. Whilst it is possible to make your own pipe, it is much more advisable to buy one, as it is a lot safer, and you can choose from a huge range of designs and sizes.

There really aren’t that many cons to a dabbing pipe, except ones that are much cheaper and generally poorly designed, so make sure that if you are going to invest in a pipe, that it is good quality. This will last you a lot longer and make your smoking much more efficient.

Keeping Safe

If you’re going to dab, then you should dab properly, and take proper care of your equipment. Make sure that you clean your pipe regularly and thoroughly, as the residue can build up and overheat, or even catch fire.

As well as taking care of your equipment, you should also be careful to make sure that the herb or essence you are burning is free of solvents and other additives that can seriously harm you or damage your health.
